How AI credits work on Evident, and why most of the product needs none

What a credit is, what each AI job costs, when credits refill, why failed jobs are refunded, and how your own model key takes credits out of the picture.

Evident uses AI in a few specific places: turning your idea into rules, improving a strategy, writing an indicator, explaining a chart, translating a forum post and, if you run one, letting an AI agent decide. Those jobs run on a large language model and cost real money on every call. Credits are how we keep that honest and predictable.

In one sentence: you need a plan to use the tools, and within it backtests, optimisation, Monte Carlo, charts and the indicator lab never cost credits; only AI jobs on Evident's model do, and with your own model key they don't cost credits either.

What things cost

The price of each job is fixed in the code and is the same on every plan:

Two buckets

Your balance has two parts, and you can see both on the account page.

  • Plan credits come with your plan and refill every 30 days. They reset to the plan amount rather than piling up, so an unused month doesn't turn into a large balance later.
  • Pack credits come from one-off credit packs, invite rewards and support. They never expire.

Every AI job takes from plan credits first and only then from pack credits, so the credits you paid for separately last as long as possible.

When something goes wrong

If an AI job fails — the model times out, returns nothing useful, or the service is busy — the credits go back to you straight away, into the pack bucket so they don't disappear at the next refill. Every movement, including refunds, appears in your credit history with the balance after it.

Credits are reserved in a single database step before the job starts. Two requests at the same moment can't both spend the same last credits, and your balance can't go below zero.

Your own key

If you add an API key for any OpenAI-compatible provider on the account page, AI jobs run on your account with that provider and Evident charges no credits for them. The key is stored encrypted and never sent back to your browser. You still need an active plan to use the tools; the key only means AI jobs don't draw on your credits. Bigger plans also raise how many AI agents and rule-based bots you can run, and whether your agents may decide every hour.

Paying

Plans and packs are paid once in crypto: USDC or USDT from a browser wallet, Solana Pay, or many more coins through OxaPay. Nothing renews by itself. Creating an account is free; the tools open with a plan. When a plan's days run out the tools close until you choose a new one, and your strategies and pack credits stay. Current prices and credit amounts are always on the pricing page.

Credits pay for AI work, not for results. Nothing on Evident is investment advice.
